Robert D. Turcotte Award Presented for Outstanding Contributions to the Promotion of Home Health
Lewiston, Maine 10/12/11 - Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice presented the Robert D. Turcotte Award to two individuals at the spring Volunteer Recognition events held in Auburn, Farmington and Bethel. The award is presented in honor of Robert Turcotte, an Auburn resident, who was treasurer of the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice's Board of Directors from 1978 until his death in 1982. Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice gives this award in acknowledgement of outstanding contributions to the promotion of home health care.

Planning for 8th Annual Autumn Night Out is well underway
Lewiston, Maine  10/11/11 - "After going through the process of caring for a sick husband, I made a commitment that I would help those who must rely on outside help", states Cyndi Robbins, Chair of the Autumn Night Out Committee. "I joined the Board of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice 3 years ago and this year agreed to chair the committee for the 8th Annual Autumn Night Out. This is an awesome organization that reaches many people in our area who need that little extra help to stay independent and comfortable in their own homes."

Hospice Training Class in Lewiston, Beginning October 25th
Lewiston, Maine  9/28/11 - Sheila Bacon, Hospice Volunteer, and resident of Greene started volunteering almost 8 years ago. She kept seeing information in the newspaper offering the training and decided it was time. Sheila says, "I did not realize how much Hospice Volunteering would teach me about people, life, and death. Many people tend to fear death and thanks to the patients I have met, that fear has greatly decreased for me. When you reach out and give of yourself, you receive the gift of joy."

Lewiston, Maine  10/4/11 - Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is offering a 4-hour training for Hospice House Greeters and Office Volunteers. The training will be offered October 13, 2011 from 12-4pm at the Lewiston Office on 15 Strawberry Avenue.

Wilton, Maine 9/15/11 - Individuals interested in making a lasting difference in the lives of others are encouraged to join Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice to become Bereavement Volunteers for grieving loved ones. A 15-hour training class is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 6, 2011. The class will be held on Monday and Thursday mornings at the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Office, 284 Maine Street, Suite 290, in Wilton.

A Program for Grieving Children & Teens, Multicultural, Seeks New Volunteers
Lewiston, Maine 9/9/11 - The Program for Grieving Children & Teens is announcing its next 35 hour volunteer training for individuals interested in being part of the support team, with a special focus on upcoming Multicultural grief support sessions. Training begins Wednesday, September 21st. The training includes 3 daytime sessions: September 21, 23 and 30 from 8:30am to 4:30pm and two Saturday sessions: September 24 (9:00am to 4:30pm) and October 1 (8:30am to 12pm). Classes will be held at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston.

Wilton Hospice Volunteer Training starting in September
Lewiston, Maine 8/17/11 – Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice will be offering Hospice Volunteer training for those individuals in the Farmington and Rumford areas who would like to become part of our Volunteer team. The training will be held on Mondays and Thursdays at the Wilton Office on 284 Main Street, Suite 290, beginning September 12th from 8:30am-12:30pm. Once trained, we will match you with patients from your own area.
