AHCH receives Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve

Lewiston, Maine  12.30.13 - In an effort to further support our country's Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice (AHCH) has formally been issued a Statement of Support from the Guard and Reserve. Julie Shackley, President/CEO of AHCH says that this formal declaration is not something new: "We have had a longstanding commitment to employing, supporting and empowering our country's Service men and women, as well as finding new and creative ways to honor and thank our Veteran patients for their sacrifices." This statement pledges that:

  • AHCH fully recognizes, honors and enforces the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)

  •

  • AHCH provides their managers and supervisors with the tools needed to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve

  • AHCH appreciates the values, leadership and unique skills Service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to employ Guardsmen, Reservists, and Veterans

  • AHCH Will continue to recognize and support our country's Service members and their families in peace, in crisis, and in war
AHCH works closely with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and local Vet Centers to provide care for Veterans in their homes, nursing homes, medical centers and assisted living facilities. At AHCH's Hospice House in Auburn, the agency works to identify and honor its Veteran patients by hanging plaques on patients' doors to recognize their service and in which branches they served as well as proudly flying the American flag in front of the facility.
