Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Announces Upcoming Volunteer Trainings

Lewiston, Maine  9.9.15 - Volunteer support has been an integral part of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice's services for over 40 years. The Program is now widely recognized as one of the most extensive, non-profit, home health volunteer programs in Maine.

"When I became a volunteer, I never realized what a big impact it would have on my life," states Bob Oliver, Volunteer for Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice. "I started to look at live through the eyes of the caregiver and patient. I then realized just how much a couple of hours of my time were worth to someone else. I love this work."

Volunteer opportunities include visiting patients on home care or hospice services, providing respite for caregivers, bereavement support and facilitating grief groups, Hospice House greeters, patient support and kitchen work, grocery shopping and medication pick-up, transportation, office work. Volunteers specializing in complementary therapies such as pet therapy, Reiki, massage, music and art are also welcome.


Upcoming Volunteer Trainings:

Hospice Volunteer Training - Lewiston Office

Hospice volunteers will receive 20-hours of training, Wednesdays and Fridays. Trainings take place at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice's Lewiston Office on 15 Strawberry Avenue.

September 23rd - 8:30am-12:30pm

September 25th and 30th - 9:30am-12:30pm

October 2nd and 7th - 9:30am-12:30pm

October 9th - 8:30am-12:30pm

Training will focus on how to provide companionship and support to terminally ill patients and their families. Trainings will also cover topics on family dynamics, disease process, spirituality and much more.


Hospice Volunteer Training - Manchester Office
Hospice volunteers will receive 20-hours of training, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Trainings take place at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice's Office on 15 Range Way, Suite 2, Manchester.

October 13th - 8:30am-12:30pm

October 15th, 20th, 22nd, and 27th - 9:30am-12:30pm

October 29th - 8:30am-12:30pm

Training will focus on how to provide companionship and support to terminally ill patients and their families. Trainings will also cover topics on family dynamics, disease process, spirituality and much more.


General Volunteer Training

General volunteer training for visiting, office and Hospice House Greeter/Kitchen support. Volunteers will receive 6 hours of training. All trainings are held from 9am-3:30pm.

September 28th at the Lewiston Office

October 1st at the Manchester Office

October 14th at Bridgton Hospital

October 6th at the Wilton Office

October 24rd at the Lewiston Office

October 26th at the Norway Office.
