Bereavement/Grief Support Services

The loss of her husband of nearly 51 years left Yvette Boivin feeling overhwelmed. Learning of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice's Pathways through Grief support group enabled her to change her perspective on life and gave her a new focus. "During the eight week session I learned there are so many aspects to grieving, so many questions you need answered. I learned that it's okay to be sad and more importantly, it's okay to be happy. My husband would want that," explains Yvette.

Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice's bereavement staff and volunteers offer support to family members of hospice patients for 13 months following the loss of a loved one, and provide:

  • Newsletters covering grief and bereavement topics
  • Follow-up phone calls and one-on-one visits
  • Memorial services honoring hospice patients who recently passed away

Community bereavement support groups help individuals move through the grief process and are available for adults and children. All support groups are offered at no cost to the participant. Grief Support Newsletters and resource guides are available to the community at no charge.

Support Groups include:

Pathways through Grief - an 8-week facilitated grief support group offered in Bridgton and Dixfield for adults who have suffered a loss through death.

Guidance through Grief - an 8-week facilitated grief support group offered in Lewiston for adults who have suffered a loss through death.

Bereavement after Suicide - a support group that addresses the special needs and feelings of individuals coping with a loss due to suicide.

Camp Dragonfly, a program of Program for Grieving Children & Teens - designed for children and teens (ages 3-18) and adult family members that have experienced the loss of a loved one.
