Lewiston, Maine 2.10.15 - In December 2014, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice (AHCH) signed a contract with the Togus Maine VA Medical Center, allowing the agency's trained hospice volunteers the ability to provide volunteer services to inpatient hospice clients. The VA Togus contract has been another step forward for AHCH's continuously evolving volunteer program.
In order to receive the contract, AHCH had to identify how they would assist with the growing need to provide end-of-life support to veterans at the Togus Maine VA Medical Center. With the agency having more than 250 volunteers (160 specially trained in hospice and bereavement) and being widely recognized as having one of the largest and most comprehensive home health and hospice volunteer programs in Maine, AHCH felt self-assured in creating this new partnership.
In the letter of intent AHCH provided to the Togus Maine VA Medical Center, Julie Shackley, President/CEO of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice wrote, "We feel confident our experience in providing hospice volunteer services will be a positive addition to the Togus hospice program. AHCH takes great pride in the scope of support and quality of our volunteer program."
Along with a letter of intent, AHCH was required to provide letters of recommendation from those familiar with our volunteer services. The letters included support from St. Mary's d'Youville Pavilion, Schooner Estates, The Fortin Group and Maine Quality Counts. "We are proud of our relationships throughout the community and are grateful for the support from our partners," shares Shackley.
